The recent pandemic put a damper on the past few Space Needle - New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The 2020 and the 2021 New Year’s Eve displays at the Needle were virtual/computer enhanced shows - for TV.

It was like something out of Avatar.

This year’s New Year’s Eve Space Needle celebration is promised to be different.

Not only will we once again see the spectacular firework show - but Space Needle Chief Marketing Officer Randy Coté told Seattle’s KING 5 News, that they will be using drones to enhance the show.

The drone show will be put on by Sky Elements

Sky Elements proclaims itself as “the leading drone show provider" who fly about half of the drone shows in our country. They did a great job putting on this year's Seattle Mariners 4th of July fireworks show at T-Mobile Park

This Saturday night, Sky Elements will be using 200 drones -  to dramatically help tell the story of 2023’s entrance - in a way never done before at the Needle.

In the last decade, drone shows have grown in popularity to greatly enhance firework shows for: The 4th of July, the Super Bowl & the Olympics. Drones were also used with dazzling effect - at the recent Men's World Cup opening ceremony in Qatar.

You can catch the show live - This Saturday night at Midnight - Anywhere where you can see the Space Needle.  You'll also be able to enjoy it from your warm couch - on KING 5 Seattle: Who will provide local coverage from underneath the Needle, Saturday night - New Year's Eve starting at 11:30pm
