A food research group called Pantry & Larder has created an interactive tool called McCheapest. It lets you compare prices at over 10,000 McDonald’s locations across the country. The map uses color-coded dots: green marks the cheapest spots, while dark red shows the most expensive. When you click a dot, you’ll see which store it is. You can also search by city or state to find the cheapest and most expensive Big Mac in your area, along with each location’s exact address.

The price difference across the country is surprising. Right now, the cheapest Big Mac is $3.49 in Stigler, Oklahoma, while the most expensive is $8.09 in Lee, Massachusetts. That’s a $4.60 difference for the same sandwich.

Washington Pays More for Big Macs — But Wenatchee Is an Exception

Washington state is one of the more expensive places for a Big Mac. The average price at Washington’s 197 locations is $6.26, compared to the national average of $5.91. This difference reflects the state’s higher minimum wage and real estate costs. But there’s good news for Wenatchee Valley residents: the Wenatchee and East Wenatchee McDonald’s sell a Big Mac for $4.99. The price in Moses Lake is a bit more ($5.29, due to being right off of the I-90 exit), which is still well below both the state and national averages.

The McCheapest map also tracks how prices have changed over time. This feature is popular with customers who have seen fast-food costs rise sharply over the past decade. What used to be an affordable, easy meal is now a real budget concern for many families.

The tool was created because food prices are rising nationwide due to inflation. It comes at a time when more people are checking their receipts closely before going to the drive-through.
