So, Wednesday (3/5/25) I went on my lunch break thinking all things were well with the world, and then when I got back, I saw the headline. “Seahawks release Tyler Lockett.” My first reaction was WHAT? Then I settled down and started thinking about it and now I'm not Quite so freaked out.

according to MSN.Com,
The Seattle Seahawks are moving on from a franchise legend. The team is releasing wide receiver Tyler Lockett in a cap-related move, it announced Wednesday. The 32-year-old spent all 10 NFL seasons in Seattle, and thanked the Seahawks faithful on social media when the news broke.

Ten years is a long time in the NFL. Especially at Wide receiver. I'm not saying he can't still be productive for another three or four years, maybe longer. But a player can take a lot of damage playing that position.

So, the next question is where is he going to wind up? He's not retiring.

ESPN is reporting that he might wind up in Las Vegas. Playing. for Head coach Pete Carroll. It would certainly be a natural fit. they have a good relationship.

So, why is Tyler Lockett leaving Seattle? It's all about money. He was up for a $17 million paycheck for this next season, plus what they call a roster bonus. For an extra 5.3 million. Seattle is saving all that money and can use it to build up their roster.

the seattle times is reporting that the seahawks are also “releasing safety Rayshawn Jenkins, offensive lineman George Fant and defensive linemen Dre'Mont Jones and Roy Robertson-Harris". That will save the Seattle Seahawks another $27.25 million.

On Monday (3/3/25), they found themselves approximately 6.8 million over the salary cap so they're in good shape now.

Now the big question is, what are the Seahawks going to spend all that money on?

Let's hope they're going to spend it on the offensive line.
