Oil prices really didn’t move much during the holiday week.  Currently, a barrel of West Texas Crude is trading around $69; the same price we’ve seen for the past couple of weeks.  That has translated into lower fuel costs across the county.   According to the Department of Energy, a gallon of unleaded is down to $3.03, down one penny in the past week.  The expectation is fuel prices will continue to tick down in the coming weeks.

However, there are a few unknowns that could impact oil prices, thus impacting what we pay at the pump.  First, temperatures in the Midwest and the east are starting to drop considerably, which could increase demand for heating oil.  The second unknown, what impact tariffs will have if implemented by the Trump Administration; Canada is currently the biggest provider of oil to the United States, and the President elect says he plans on adding tariffs of up to 25% on products coming in from Canada.
