The findings show a need for more outdoor sports fields as well as an indoor aquatic center and indoor sports facilities.

Hawkins’ legislation is aimed at supporting development of a regional sports complex in the greater Wenatchee area and authorizes local governments to join together to seek voter approval of regional facilities. The bill provides a legal framework for the financing and governance of a new public facilities district.

City of Wenatchee’s Executive Services Director Laura Gloria says the city would funnel $40,000 towards this feasibility study.

So far, there's a verbal commitment to fund a feasibility study on the Sports Complex from all the parties involved.
