So, how many youth hostels are in Washington State? The short answer is twelve.

Why would you consider using one - for yourself, you and your partner - or you and your entire family?

Let’s talk about it.

The expectations of staying at one are that they’re more inexpensive than your typical hotel. You should bring your own bedding/pillow/sleeping bag. You should also bring your own flip flops for using the shower.

So why a Youth Hostel?

  • They Cost less
  • You and your Family Will Meet New Friends
  • Chat with other travelers and get word of mouth tips on the area
  • You can eat a free continental breakfast - plus shop locally and cook with a stove.

Where are the Youth Hostels in Washington State?

There is one Youth Hostel in the San Juan Islands.

Four others in the Seattle area (Three in the City and one on the North end)

Four hostels scattered around other parts of the Westside of the Cascades

Three in the 509 area code.

Eagle Rock Resort near Naches, WA

I’ve driven here by accident. I was trying to get up over White Pass (on my way to the Oregon Coast) and missed the turn. Eagle Rock Resort is on the road that heads North towards Mt. Rainier and Chinook Pass.

Stayed a couple days, nice little clean cabins at a very reasonable price. Great friendly helpful staff and the convenience of a store, gas station and good food restaurant/bar a short walk away.

Riverside Cabin in Leavenworth

Before you see the listed price - note that this is a great option if you have multiple groups, or family members to accommodate and are willing to pitch in.

We had a great time. Plenty of room for 3 families (6 adults, 5 children). The kitchen was nice and big so we could have multiple cooks in there at the same time. We really enjoyed the daily visits from the deer! We would love to come back!!

Hostelling International Seattle at the American Hotel

In Seattle’s International District and next to Lumen Field, T-Mobile Park & the King Street Train/Bus Station.

Great hostel. Not as "fancy" as some I've stayed in, but a solid HI hostel. No AC in the rooms, so plan on having the windows open if it's hot out. Staff was awesome and helpful. Location was great; all of the food we had nearby was awesome. Area looks a little sketchy, but there are a lot of regular people around so it never felt unsafe. I'd stay again if I were in the Seattle area - M.
