Why One Wenatchee Man Is Walking 500 Miles Across Washington!
A quiet singletrack trail runs through the heart of Washington, stretching from the Columbia River up to the Canadian border. This summer, that rugged path will help bring both structural and spiritual renewal to the Wenatchee Valley.
Kolin Oliveira, Executive Director of the Wenatchee Lighthouse Christian Ministries, is taking a break from his daily work to start "Miles of Redemption," a challenging 500-mile fundraising trek along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). His goal is not only to cross the high-alpine passes of the Cascades but also to fully renovate the organization's aging Mission House.
A Foundation for Healing
Built in 1970, the Mission House has been a key place for men looking for a new beginning in our community. But years of use have worn down the building. The carpets are worn out, the bathrooms need urgent repairs, and the kitchen ceiling is now soft and sagging.
The Mission House is more than just a shelter. It is a Christ-centered community where men find support, spiritual guidance, and the tools they need to heal. When we invest in these men, it creates a ripple effect. As Warren Buffett often says, helping people rebuild their lives can lift up the whole city for decades to come.
How to Partner on the Journey
Each mile Kolin walks on the PCT is a chance for our valley to support local recovery. The Wenatchee Lighthouse invites everyone to help in three ways: pray for Kolin’s safety, spread the word about the mission, and consider making a donation.
As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Wenatchee Lighthouse puts every donation toward making the Mission House a modern, safe, and welcoming place for healing.
