Millennials Are Begging Gen Z to Stop With These Trends
Millennials have apparently reached their limit with Gen Z's comfort-over-everything approach. Pajamas worn in public — the airport, the mall, the grocery store — top the list of grievances. "They literally roll out of bed and go out," one commenter wrote. "It's so trashy." Showing up looking disheveled regardless of the occasion got similar criticism, framed less as a fashion trend and more as a general vibe millennials just can't get behind.
Mullets drew a particularly pointed response. "I'm all for you doing you, but I am BEGGING men to stop with the mullets," one person pleaded, capital letters doing most of the emotional heavy lifting.
Specific Items Under Fire
Yeezys paired with mismatched socks made the list — and notably, it was a Gen Z commenter calling this one out, not a millennial. "A loooot of guys my age wear them," they admitted. Birkenstocks with socks got similar pushback, alongside mom jeans and barrel jeans, the latter drawing one of the sharper insults on the whole list: "Why do you want to look like a cowboy who has been sitting on a horse for too long?"
Socks worn over leggings confused people too, as did slicked-back hair, which made a widespread comeback nobody quite asked for.
Beauty Choices That Stumped Millennials Most
Pimple patches worn openly in public — not hidden, not treated as embarrassing, just visible and unbothered — represented a real generational shift in how comfortable people are being seen mid-skincare-routine. Dark lip liner got roasted hardest of all: "It makes your mouth look like a butthole," one commenter wrote, bluntly.
Fake nails versus regular polish sparked debate too, with several millennials arguing that simple polish looks cleaner and takes less effort. And shorts in freezing weather — allegedly worn purely for attention — rounded out the list as one final point of confusion.
For anyone navigating closets shared between generations, or just scrolling past a teenager in pajama pants at Pybus Market, this list offers a pretty clear generational line in the sand. Some trends age well. Others, apparently, make grown adults want to write a BuzzFeed-worthy rant.
