The holidays are a time for family, friends, cheer!  But, what about making sure your house is clean, your food is ready, presents are wrapped; pretty overwhelming, right?   We all go through it...I go through it, every year, but like you I love the holidays but I don’t want the stress, I want the joy. There are things I do to minimize all this.

PLAN

Ever heard the expression "plan your work and work your plan?"  Sure, you have.  Co-workers, family, boyfriends, girlfriends.  Everyone wants a piece of you during the holidays.  Everyone wants to make plans with you and as usually happens they all want it on the same day. Plan for the events that you can attend; hint, you can't attend them all.  Learn to say no. You can't do it all and stress yourself out that you will hurt someone's feelings.

MONEY...MONEY...MONEY

Probably nothing more stressful in life than money, especially at Christmas time. Who are you buying presents for? Kids? Family? Spouse, Friends? Co-Workers?  STOP IT! You can't buy for everyone and create angst on you. Plan for it. Have a specific holiday budget and for whom. Make a list and set a limit.  Honestly, it is okay if you just want to buy someone a card instead of a gift.  This is probably the number one stress factor during the holidays.  Don’t let it be.

BE REAL

You are only one person.  Be realistic with how much you can handle this season. Relax a little and enjoy the company surrounding you.

TAKE A BREAK AND BREATHE

Don't forget about your own needs.  I like to take naps.   You can too or maybe watch a funny movie. Take time to relax and take a breather.

Holidays are meant to be a fun, enjoyable time with friends and family.  From my heart to yours, I want you to really enjoy your holidays when stress starts to set in.
