11 Things to Do in Leavenworth This Season
Leavenworth gets plenty of attention for its Alpine architecture, but the real experiences here go deeper than the postcard shots. Start at the Leavenworth Reindeer Farm, where you can walk right up to the herd and feed them by hand — a genuinely rare experience this side of the Arctic Circle.
For something more physically demanding, the hike to Colchuck Lake delivers one of the best payoffs in the Cascades. It's a little over four miles (8 1/2 miles roundtrip), technical in stretches, with rock scrambling that'll have you feeling like Frodo picking his way toward Mordor. The lake itself, sitting beneath Dragontail Mountain, is one of those views that photos simply can't capture — same rule as the Grand Canyon. You have to stand there yourself.
If hiking isn't your speed, floating the Wenatchee River offers a gentler two-mile trip from Bridge River Access Park down to Waterfront Park. Life jacket required, relaxation guaranteed.
Eating and Drinking Your Way Through Town
Bavarian food is the obvious draw, and Munchen Haus, Gustav's, and Rhein Haus all deliver — bratwurst, jumbo pretzels, schnitzel, cold beer, and a view worth lingering over. Speaking of beer, Blewett Brewing, Icicle Brewing, and Doghouse Brewery each have their own following among locals and visitors alike.

Whistle Punk deserves its reputation, too. Find the blue-and-white striped Maypole near the village square, and the line for ice cream won't be far off. My family always ends up there — I personally can't visit Leavenworth without grabbing a double scoop.
The Danish Bakery is famous for its cheese danishes and almond Kringle, while Mozart's offers a proper European fondue experience worth booking ahead for.
Small Shops With Big Stories
The Nutcracker Museum holds over 9,000 nutcrackers from around the world, curated by Arlene Wagner, who became Conan O'Brien's very first guest on his 2010 TBS debut — beating out Justin Bieber and Jack Nicholson in a rigged online poll that put Leavenworth on the national map.
Mini-golf fans have options too, between Icicle Village Resort and the 18-hole Enzian Falls Championship Putting Course. And at The Bubblery, an artisan skincare shop, you might run into Latashja — half of the once-iconic Connor and Latashja radio duo — now selling handmade soap that genuinely looks good enough to eat.

Eleven stops, one unforgettable weekend. Leavenworth rewards people willing to wander past Main Street. Leavenworth is also known for its world-famous Oktoberfest and Christmas lights during the Holidays!
