Bags are Back at Walmart… but Not for Long. Walmart Goes Bagless April 18
The other day I was surprised to see that every stand at Walmart didn't have the 8 cent bags for purchase. They had the canvas bags you could buy at a premium or, as others, they brought their own bags or boxes to store their goods.
I was at Walmart just last night and saw the bags were back. I got excited but that excitement slowed when I learned it was just temporary.
Walmarts nationwide are doing away with their 8 cent bags starting on April 18.
This means you just have to bring your own bags from home. Or pretend it's Costco and just bring boxes.
People have varying opinions on this. On one hand, like Costco, Costco has never used bags so it's no big deal. But, on the flipside, sometimes you walk into Walmart expecting to grab 2 or 3 items and end up with a basket full of goods and didn't think to bring a bag as you didn't think you'd need one. Nice to have that option as a 'just in case'.
I also repurpose those 8 cent bags regularly for waste paper basket liners or use to carry a few things to work or something. Nice and convenient.
Sure, there's nothing stopping me from just reusing the bags I already have or even those canvas bags which have been in use and popular enough for the past several years but, starting April 18, if you find yourself needing a bag, you'll have to buy one of the canvas ones.
